Gun Buy Back Program Slated for June

Bridgeton - The Cumberland County Board of Chosen Freeholders in Partnership with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department, Prosecutor's Office, Office of Emergency Management and local law enforcement agencies are joining together to organize 3 seperate Gun Buy Back Events during the month of June. Freeholder Director Louis N. Magazzu said "I am pleased that the Freeholder Board was able to assist with this important program. Events like this require an enormous amount of inter-agency coordination and I am delighted by the great work of our Sheriff's Department and others who took the time to allow the project to come to fruition".

Public Safety Chairman Freeholder William Whelan said " I am hopeful that this program will assist in making our streets safer. People just need to show up and turn in their firearms. 1 $50.00 Acme or Shop Rite gift card will be given for each firearm turned into the Sheriff's Department". Whelan continued, "Residents should know that while BB guns, air soft guns and replica firearms will be accepted, these items are not reimbursable with food vouchers. Additionally, please note that we will not accept firearms from gun dealers"
