Head Teacher/ Group Teacher

Under supervision of the Bethel Learning Center Director performs assigned duties realting to the implementation of Child Care Services.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan both long and short range activites in accordance with curriculum objectives, develpmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy.
  • Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child
  • Encourage assistants to contribute to curriculum planning
  • Coordinate field trips
  • Prepare monthly plan charts or weekly lesson plans
  • Complete bi-annual assessment of children's development
  • Report progress of children to parents in bi-annual reports and through parent-teacher conferances
  • Maintain daily open communications with parents
  • Keep accident reports
  • Maintain obseration reports
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Report any suspect abuse to supervisor
  • Arrange a classroom enviornment in accordance to program goals and philosophy
  • Maintain a safe and healthy enviornment
  • Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials
  • Supervise assistants, aides and volunterrs in the classroom
  • Keep all appropriate records such as records, attendance and time sheets
  • Meet all applicable licensing regulations

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in all in-service and staff meetings
  • Observe established administrative procedures.
  • Provide written reports and maintain statistics as required.
  • Participate in evaluation activities of program participants
  • Keep all appropriate records such as records, attendance and timesheets.
  • Meet all applicable licensing regulations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required for head teacher
  • Associate's degree or equivalent required for group teacher.
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education
  • Experiance in early childhood education
  • Commitment to Bethel Ministirs' philosophy and mission statement
  • Access to currently registerd car and a valid driver's license.
  • Bi-lingual prefereed but not required.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communications.

Special Requiremetns: Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassited), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must pass fingerprint clearance test for all appropriate agencies.
